Comparison

GuestEQ vs hotelkit: collaboration-first operations or operations plus sales and owner reporting

The short answer

hotelkit is a collaboration-first platform: tasks, team chat, shift handovers, SOPs, housekeeping, and facility management with preventive maintenance and asset records, backed by a published list of PMS integrations and single sign-on for chains. GuestEQ covers similar daily operations and adds group-sales follow-up, revenue and STAR views, and a team-written Owner's Report, adopted per property alongside existing systems. If a deeply integrated collaboration and knowledge tool is the priority, look closely at hotelkit. If you also need sales and owner-facing reporting across a mixed portfolio, look at GuestEQ.

Where the differences matter

Collaboration and knowledge

Collaboration is hotelkit's center of gravity. It documents team chats by colleague or department, digital shift handovers, read confirmations on entries, digital checklists, and an SOP handbook, with Knowledge AI answering questions from that handbook through a pilot program[16], source 16[13], source 13[14], source 14[24], source 24. GuestEQ covers the same daily ground with team chat, categorized pass-along and incident notes, department task boards, shared SOP folders, and a help center.

Who benefits: hotels with large, multilingual teams where the handbook and read confirmations are central will find hotelkit's knowledge features more fully documented. hotelkit says it is available in 32 languages[14], source 14.

Housekeeping and facility management

Both cover housekeeping and maintenance. hotelkit adds automatic room allocation, minibar and lost-item tracking, and asset records with model details, warranties, and depreciation schedules[17], source 17[19], source 19. GuestEQ puts more weight on inspection accountability: a supervisor inspection queue, history recording who cleaned and who inspected, and pass rates and commonly failed items, plus preventive-maintenance cycles that separate completed items from ones marked not applicable.

When it matters: if asset records and warranties drive your engineering, hotelkit documents more. If rooms failing inspection is the recurring problem, compare the two inspection workflows directly.

Beyond daily operations

GuestEQ includes group lead stages and follow-up, revenue and STAR views, and an Owner's Report whose sections your team writes. On hotelkit's public pages we found event checklists but not a group-sales pipeline or an owner report[15], source 15. hotelkit does document task and guest-request statistics and Excel export[13], source 13[14], source 14.

Who benefits: management companies whose select-service GMs also run sales and prepare owner reports. For a hotel with a separate sales platform and finance-led owner reporting, this difference matters less.

Running many properties

hotelkit documents a central platform for multi-property management, oversight of processes across properties, centralized user management with single sign-on, standardized inspection templates, and guest requests consolidated across hotels[18], source 18[22], source 22. GuestEQ provides portfolio administration across brands and hotels, per-hotel module settings, company-level chat and documents, and digests at portfolio scope, but does not claim a single consolidated dashboard. Ask both to show a regional director's view across your actual hotels.

Integrations and getting started

hotelkit publishes a PMS integration directory, including a two-way Mews room-status interface, an open API, a 30-day free trial, and online training two to three weeks after the trial decision[23], source 23[14], source 14. GuestEQ works from imported reports and dedicated report email addresses and assesses direct integrations system by system; it does not publish a trial or a rollout timeline.

When it matters: if your PMS appears on hotelkit's list and live room status matters, that is a real advantage. If a hotel's PMS already exports usable reports, GuestEQ can start from those.

How each is bought

hotelkit sells its products individually or together, with Basic, Standard, and Pro packages, a setup fee based on room count, a monthly license, and a 12-month contract[13], source 13[14], source 14. GuestEQ selects modules per hotel and prices by proposal. Both let a property take part of the product; ask each for a quote on the same scenario to compare fairly.

Choose GuestEQ if…

  • Your GMs run group-sales follow-up alongside operations and you want both in one system.
  • You need a structured owner report and revenue views, not only operational statistics.
  • Inspection accountability, who cleaned, who inspected, and what failed, is the main housekeeping gap.
  • Different hotels in your portfolio need different modules.

Consider hotelkit if…

  • Collaboration, SOPs, and read-confirmed handovers are the heart of what you need.
  • Your PMS is on hotelkit's integration list and live two-way room status matters.
  • You want asset records with warranties and depreciation in the maintenance tool.
  • You want to trial the product before committing, or need a wide choice of interface languages.

Questions to ask in a hotelkit demo

Put the same scenarios to GuestEQ so the answers are comparable.

  1. Packaging: Which features are in Basic, Standard, and Pro, and which products would each of our hotels need?

  2. Portfolio control: Show us how a regional director oversees processes across properties, and how single sign-on works for people who cover several hotels.

  3. Integration: Is the integration with our PMS two-way, and what does it update: room status, guest data, or both?

  4. Reporting: What can we report to owners, and in what format, beyond task and guest-request statistics?

  5. Permissions: How do permissions differ between a property team, a department head, and corporate?

  6. Implementation: What happens between the trial decision and training, and what does each property need to prepare?

  7. Pricing: What is the setup fee and monthly license for our room counts and packages, and what does a 12-month contract commit us to?

  8. Support: What support is included after training, and in which languages?

Frequently asked questions

Is hotelkit a collaboration tool or a housekeeping tool?

Both. hotelkit sells four products: Collaboration (tasks, chat, handovers, checklists, and SOPs), Housekeeping, Facility Management (repairs, preventive maintenance, and asset records), and Knowledge AI. They are available individually or together.

Does hotelkit include group sales or owner reporting?

We did not find either on hotelkit's public pages; it documents event checklists, not a group-sales pipeline. GuestEQ includes group lead stages and follow-up, and an Owner's Report whose sections are written by your team.

Can we try either product before committing?

hotelkit documents a 30-day free trial, with online training two to three weeks after the decision to start it. GuestEQ does not publish a trial offer; ask about evaluation options in the demo.

Which integrates with more property management systems?

hotelkit publishes a directory of PMS integrations, including Mews, Opera Cloud, apaleo, Protel, and SIHOT, and an open API. GuestEQ works from imported reports and dedicated report email addresses, and assesses direct integrations system by system.

Could a group use hotelkit at some properties and GuestEQ at others?

Yes. GuestEQ modules are enabled per hotel, so it can run at properties where it fits while others keep hotelkit. The two would operate side by side without sharing data unless an integration is built.
